Daecheon Beach named South Korea's most popular based on navigation searches

Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, South Korea, has been recognized as the most popular beach in the country based on navigation search data for the period of May to July 2026. The announcement highlights the beach's significant draw for tourists, surpassing other well-known coastal destinations.

According to data analyzed by the Korea Tourism Organization's Data Lab, Daecheon Beach recorded an impressive 87,060 navigation searches during the specified months. This figure placed it ahead of other popular locations, including Busan's Gwangalli Beach (67,041 searches) and Haeundae Beach (65,673 searches), as well as Gangwon Province's Gyeongpo Beach (64,812 searches) and Incheon's Eulwangni Beach (62,169 searches).

Park Hyun-sook, head of Boryeong City's public relations team, stated that the navigation search volume indicates Daecheon Beach's established position as a leading marine tourism spot, not just on the west coast but nationwide. The beach benefits from its relatively close proximity to the Seoul metropolitan area, its soft sandy shores, and a wide array of local food and entertainment options.

Furthermore, Daecheon Beach is renowned for hosting the annual Boryeong Mud Festival, a major event that attracts numerous domestic and international tourists. Boryeong City aims to leverage this popularity by developing the beach into a year-round attraction and by expanding its convenience facilities and tourism infrastructure to further enhance the visitor experience.
