Daimler Truck recalls over 131,000 trucks worldwide due to fire risk

Daimler Truck is initiating a global recall affecting more than 131,000 Mercedes-Benz trucks. The recall addresses a potential fire risk stemming from corrosion on the contacts of a battery chip that may not have been installed correctly.

The issue arises when corrosion on the chip's contacts, exacerbated by improper installation, can cause heat buildup, potentially leading to a fire. The manufacturer has confirmed that the affected chip needs to be disconnected to mitigate this risk. In Germany alone, the recall impacts an estimated 27,084 vehicles. These include models such as the Actros, Arocs, and E-Actros, manufactured from late March 2021 through to late October 2025.

Daimler Truck explained that the chip is sealed with resin by the supplier. However, in some instances, this sealing process was reportedly insufficient, creating conditions conducive to corrosion. The company stated that it is aware of only isolated incidents related to this issue and has no knowledge of any personal injuries.
