Damaged Jakarta Overpass to be Dismantled; Traffic Diversions Implemented

An overpass in South Jakarta, Indonesia, is slated for demolition after a heavy equipment truck struck it, leaving it leaning and on the verge of collapse. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning on Jalan Kapten P Tendean, a major thoroughfare.

Authorities have implemented traffic engineering measures to manage the flow of vehicles during the dismantling process. Police have rerouted traffic, with vehicles from the east being directed away from the flyover and either turned left or made to perform a U-turn. Traffic from Warung Buncit heading left will be diverted through an underpass, eventually connecting to the Kuningan traffic light intersection.

The South Jakarta Transportation Agency has coordinated with the police to manage the diversions at three key points: the Mampang descent, the incident site itself, and the Santa traffic light. These measures will be enacted once heavy machinery arrives for the bridge's removal.

The Bina Marga (Public Works) agency confirmed the decision to dismantle the overpass, citing damage to its foundation and support pillars. The agency stated that the entire structure must be removed due to the lack of central support after the initial impact.
