Danish golfer rides major form into Minnesota

Danish golfer Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is carrying his strong form from a career-best major performance into the 3M Open in Minnesota. The 27-year-old Dane made a promising start to the PGA Tour event on Thursday, carding an opening round of 66, which placed him five strokes under par.

This initial performance positions Neergaard-Petersen at T-10th place in the leaderboard after the first round, trailing the leader, American Ben Kohles, by four strokes. His round included an eagle, five birdies, and two bogeys, showcasing a solid and aggressive play.

Last week, Neergaard-Petersen achieved his best-ever result in a major championship, securing a T-9th finish at The Open in England. This recent success highlights his current strong standing in professional golf.

He is joined in Minnesota by fellow Danish golfers Thorbjørn Olesen and Rasmus Højgaard. Both Olesen and Højgaard also had respectable starts, finishing their opening rounds at two under par with scores of 69.

The 3M Open boasts a significant prize fund of $8.8 million, with the winner set to receive a substantial check of $1.584 million.
