Danish Pride Participants in Berlin 'Shaken' by Fatal Vehicle Attack

Danish attendees at Berlin's Pride celebration described their shock and horror after a vehicle deliberately drove into a crowd, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. The incident cast a somber shadow over the normally festive event.

Another participant, Niels Christian Aahøj Bech, spokesperson for LGBTQ+ in Sønderborg, was at a nearby restaurant when the incident occurred. He described the abrupt shift from celebration to silence. "I've never experienced anything so violent before," he told TV 2. "That situation where everything changes from a festive mood to being quiet. Everything just stops. Terribly awful."

German police have identified a 21-year-old suspect, Abdul B., in connection with the attack and believe he may have fled abroad. The incident left 16 people injured, with several sustaining life-threatening wounds, turning a day of celebration into one of tragedy and fear.
