Danladi is Popular, Convincingly Won Kwara APC Guber Contest, Say Elders, Stakeholders

A group of Kwara All Progressives Congress (APC) elders and stakeholders have publicly backed Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi (SYD) for the governorship, asserting he convincingly won the party's primaries and remains the most popular aspirant due to his youth, grassroots support, and capacity.

The general public is aware of the fact that our party held its primaries for all the elective offices, including the governorship ticket in a peaceful atmosphere. The results of the governorship primary was announced by the chairman of the panel that was sent from Abuja to conductor the exercise, Hon. Musiliu Obanikoro, in the presence of all loyal party members at the Banquet Hall along Ahmadu Bello Way, Ilorin.

Addressing a press briefing in Ilorin, the elders dismissed claims from elements whose preferred aspirants lost in the primaries. They presented a text, read by Mallam Lateef Gidado Alakawa, a party chieftain, which detailed the peaceful conduct of the primaries on May 22, 2026. The results, announced by the primary panel chairman, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, declared Hon. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu as the winner.

The elders emphasized that no other gubernatorial aspirants have formally complained about the primary outcome. They highlighted that Hon. Danladi has actively engaged with key stakeholders, including traditional rulers, who have reportedly blessed his candidacy and pledged support for the 2027 polls.

The governorship primary that was held on 22nd May 2026 produced the incumbent speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Danladi- Salihu, as winner. Since that time, none of the other gubernatorial aspirants has raised a complaint on the outcome of the exercise. And as a team player, the APC gubernatorial candidate has since extended the hands of fellowship to his co-contestants.

They also clarified that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq did not impose any candidates, allowing for a free contest in the gubernatorial primary. The governor, they stated, accepted the outcome of the exercise. Danladi Salihu's credentials, including his engineering background and seven years of experience as the state's third-highest-ranking official, were cited as reasons for his suitability, alongside his appeal to the youth population.
