Danzatlán 2026 Festival to Feature Elisa Carrillo and International Artists Over Four Days

The vibrant Danzatlán International Dance Festival returns for its ninth edition, set to captivate audiences from August 13-16 at the Centro Cultural Mexiquense Bicentenario in Texcoco, Mexico.

This year's festival, a collaborative effort between the Elisa Carrillo Foundation and the State of Mexico's Secretariat of Culture and Tourism, continues its mission to connect people with the art of dance. Ballerina Elisa Carrillo Cabrera expressed her enthusiasm, noting the growing public interest and the festival's success in achieving its core objective.

Attendees can look forward to a diverse program. The festival kicks off with "Ask Elisa," an interactive session where Carrillo, who also directs the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany, will engage with children. A major highlight is the "Elisa and Friends" Gala on August 15, featuring renowned dancers such as Tatiana Melnik and Motomi Kiyota from the Hungarian National Ballet, Fumi Kaneko and Vadim Muntagirov from the Royal Ballet of London, Marti Paixá from the Stuttgart Ballet, and Braylon Browner.

Carrillo herself will perform "Transparente" by Ronald Savkovic and the third act of John Cranko's "Onegin." The Academia de Danza del Bosque will present "Swan Lake." Additionally, eight prestigious ballet artists will lead warm-up classes on August 14 and 15. The festival concludes with a mass ballet class taught by Carrillo. All events are free to the public.
