Darline Graham has won the Republican nomination in South Carolina, securing her position to potentially fill the Senate seat left vacant by her brother, Lindsey Graham. She emerged victorious in the nomination contest over Ralph Norman, marking a significant step toward her entering the U.S. Senate.

Graham, 62, had the backing of former President Donald Trump for the nomination. Her late brother, Lindsey Graham, was a close ally of Trump and passed away in July at the age of 71 following a brief illness, reportedly due to a tear in his aorta caused by atherosclerosis.

In the general election in November, Darline Graham will face Democratic candidate Annie Andrews. Given the state's political landscape, Graham is considered a strong favorite to win the Senate seat. South Carolina has consistently voted Republican in presidential elections since 1980, and no Democrat has won a Senate race in the state since 1998.
