Datuk Red, Adira reconciliation hearing to continue in September

Proceedings to confirm a reconciliation between businessman Datuk Seri Adnan Abu Bakar, also known as Datuk Red, and his former wife, singer Adira Suhaimi, will resume on September 3 at the Syariah Lower Court in Gombak Barat, Malaysia. The case centers on Adnan's claim that a reconciliation occurred in May 2024, within the 'iddah' period following their divorce.

Adira, the defendant, has consistently denied the reconciliation. Her syariah lawyer, Roshdan Sujak Rafie, informed the court that his client has finished providing her testimony, which fully refutes Adnan's allegations. Roshdan stated that the defense plans to present two witnesses during the next hearing to further support Adira's position.

During the closed-door hearing, which lasted nearly two hours, Adira's legal team emphasized her complete denial of the reconciliation claims. Adnan, the plaintiff, was not present due to personal matters and was represented by his syariah lawyer, Muhammad Akmal Amzan. The court had previously dismissed Adnan's attempt to withdraw the reconciliation confirmation case on June 25, after initially postponing the proceedings from April 23.

Adira and Datuk Red were married on December 3, 2015, with Adira being his second wife. They divorced on April 24, 2024, and have four children together: Anggrek, 9; Asan, 7; Anggun, 6; and Ayob, 4. Adira had previously expressed surprise at her ex-husband's legal action, stating she was unaware of any reconciliation confirmation.
