Daughter in Police Net for Allegedly Killing Her Grandmother in Katsina

Police in Katsina State have arrested Aisha Muktar Hassan, 20, for allegedly killing her 97-year-old paternal grandmother, Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan. The fatal domestic altercation took place on June 12, 2026, around 7 p.m. in Daura Local Government Area.

The victim's son and the suspect's father, Muktar Muhammad Hassan, 39, reported the incident to the Sabon Garin Daura Police Station. Responding officers found Hajiya Ummukhulsum Hassan unconscious and bleeding in her home. She was rushed to a hospital but was later pronounced dead by medical personnel.

On June 12th, 2026, at about 8:00 pm, one Muktar Muhammad Hassan, m, aged 39, reported at Sabon Garin Daura Police Station that on the same date at about 7:00pm, his daughter, one Aisha Muktar Hassan, had a misunderstanding with her grandmother. During the altercation, the suspect struck the victim on the head with a wooden chair.

During the investigation, Aisha Muktar Hassan confessed to the crime. She admitted to striking her grandmother on the head with a wooden chair during a dispute. The suspect is currently in police custody, and charges will be filed upon the conclusion of the investigation. Further details will be released as they become available.
