Daughter of legendary actor stabbed mother six times with scissors

Cleo Rose Elliott, the 27-year-old daughter of Hollywood icons Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross, attacked her mother, stabbing her six times in the arm during a fit of rage. The violent incident in 2011 led Ross to seek a restraining order against her daughter, and it seemed poised to irrevocably damage their family.

Elliott, who had the prerequisites for success with famous parents, beauty, and musical talent, grew up in the spotlight. She pursued music, studying classical opera and releasing an album in 2008 that blended Italian opera with hard rock influences. However, her career was overshadowed by the family's domestic violence incident.

Court documents revealed that Ross had claimed years of emotional abuse from her daughter, culminating in the March 2, 2011, attack where Cleo allegedly threatened her mother's life and cut the phone line before physically assaulting her. The exact motives behind the brutal attack remain unclear.

Although the court initially issued a restraining order, the proceedings were eventually dropped when neither mother nor daughter appeared in court. Shortly after, Ross stated they were working on their relationship.
