Daughter of Renowned Handball Goalkeeper Competes in Miss Sport Croatia

The Miss Sport Croatia pageant, the country's longest-running beauty and sports competition, is gearing up for its final event on July 2 in Koprivnica. This year's competition features a diverse group of 16 athletes from across Croatia, who will present themselves to a professional jury through four distinct segments.

Among the notable contestants is Vasilisa Jakubovskaja, the daughter of Irina Maljko, a celebrated handball goalkeeper who was part of the Podravka team that won the European championship title in 1996. Her participation adds a notable lineage to the competition, connecting to Croatia's rich handball history.

The finalists will showcase their athletic prowess and personal style, wearing collections from Body Feeling sportswear, Pletix swimwear, and Mistic Exclusive evening gowns. A signature element of the Miss Sport Croatia pageant is the talent show, where each finalist has 45 seconds to present their sport through a choreographed performance, highlighting not only their athletic skills but also their creativity and stage presence.

This year's contestants represent a wide array of sports, including athletics, volleyball, football, handball, dance, diving, gymnastics, rowing, and freediving. This diversity is a hallmark of the pageant, which consistently brings together successful female athletes of various ages and competitive levels. Other prominent contestants include Dora Čolig, the current Croatian indoor high jump champion, and Anna Čurković, a Croatian national long jump team member.

The finalists will gather in Zagreb on June 29 for official photoshoots, rehearsals, and preparations before heading to Koprivnica on July 1 for a program organized by the local Tourist Board. The event promises to be a celebration of female athleticism and beauty, highlighting the achievements of young Croatian sportswomen.
