David Lynch's iconic films to screen in Mexico in 'Lynch's Dreams' retrospective

David Lynch's distinctive cinematic universe is returning to the big screen in Mexico with a special retrospective titled "Los sueños de Lynch" (Lynch's Dreams). Starting August 6, Cinépolis will host this special programming, offering audiences the chance to revisit or discover some of the American director's most influential works in their intended format.

The tribute encompasses a significant portion of Lynch's filmography, which comprises ten feature films. Notable titles included in the cycle are "Eraserhead" (1977), "The Elephant Man" (1980), "Blue Velvet" (1986), "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me" (1992), "Lost Highway" (1997), "The Straight Story" (1999), "Mulholland Drive" (2001), and "Inland Empire" (2006). Notably absent from the lineup are "Dune" (1984) and "Wild at Heart" (1990).

The cycle is set to run until early September, with films being presented in stages. The initial week, from August 6 to 12, will feature "Eraserhead" and "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me." Following that, from August 13 to 19, audiences can experience "Mulholland Drive" and "Inland Empire." The remaining films will be screened in subsequent weeks, concluding on September 8.

"Los sueños de Lynch" offers a unique opportunity to re-examine the films that defined Lynch's surreal, mysterious, and narrative-challenging style. His debut, "Eraserhead," introduced the symbolic universe that would permeate his career, exploring themes of anxiety, fatherhood, and isolation. "Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me," a prequel to the groundbreaking television series, delves into the final days of the iconic character Laura Palmer. "Mulholland Drive," widely regarded as one of the best films of the 21st century, stars Naomi Watts as a young actress navigating a dreamlike Hollywood landscape where reality and identity blur.
