David Pizarro scores a stunning goal in legends match, then dances cueca with Franck Ribéry

David Pizarro showed that his touch has not deserted him. During a legends match celebrating Fiorentina’s 100th anniversary, the former Chilean midfielder produced a spectacular goal and followed it with a distinctly Chilean celebration.

Pizarro played for Fiorentina’s team of stars against a selection of Calcio legends at Florence’s Artemio Franchi stadium. He struck first time from outside the penalty area, sending a right-footed shot into the top corner.

More than 20,000 supporters watched the moment. Pizarro then celebrated in the style familiar to fans who remember his years in Italian football, dancing cueca.

Franck Ribéry joined him for the celebration. When the Frenchman reached Pizarro, he mimicked the handkerchief gesture associated with the Chilean dance and performed the cueca alongside him. The scene added a cultural flourish to an afternoon devoted to Fiorentina’s history and former stars.
