Davido's Father Donates N500m as Osun Unveils Security Trust Fund

Osun State has taken a significant stride in bolstering its security apparatus with the official launch of the State Security Trust Fund. Spearheaded by Governor Ademola Adeleke, the initiative received a massive boost with a N500 million donation from billionaire philanthropist and brother of the governor, Dr. Deji Adeleke. This substantial contribution, announced on Thursday in Osogbo, underscores a powerful commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.

Billionaire philanthropist and brother of the state governor, Dr Deji Adeleke donated Five Hundred Million Naira (N500m) while several businesses contributed various amounts.

The state government itself has pledged N300 million as initial support, demonstrating a strong public-private partnership model. Governor Adeleke emphasized that this is not a political maneuver but a critical policy to secure the populace, drawing parallels with successful public-private security arrangements in other Nigerian states. "This is a necessary policy to secure our people," he stated, highlighting the administration's focus on people-oriented innovations.

It is neither a political project nor a self-serving policy. This is a necessary policy to secure our people. Only an irresponsible government will abandon the PPP arrangement that is working so well in Lagos, Kaduna, River states, among others. Ours is a responsible leadership with people-oriented innovations, policies and programmes.

The fund is designed for sustainable financing of modern security infrastructure. Plans include establishing a Situation Room equipped with real-time CCTV surveillance and continuously providing essential operational tools to our dedicated security agencies. The Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye, confirmed the launch follows the activation of the fund's enabling law, originally passed in 2012. The Secretary of the Security Trust Fund, Femi Oyedipe, further elaborated on the initiative's goals, urging broad stakeholder support to tackle prevailing security challenges and equip our security operatives effectively.

This Fund is designed to provide sustainable funding for modern security infrastructure. Through this Fund, we will establish a modern Situation Room with real-time CCTV surveillance. We will continue the provision of operational tools required by our security agencies.
