Deadly Fire in Jakarta Kills Three, Injures One

A devastating fire swept through a densely populated neighborhood in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, early Sunday morning, claiming the lives of three residents and injuring another. The blaze erupted around 3:00 AM WIB, rapidly consuming a house, a convenience store, and a food stall.

Firefighters were dispatched immediately, with the first unit arriving at the scene at 3:04 AM. A total of 14 fire engines and 60 personnel were deployed to combat the flames and prevent them from spreading to adjacent homes in the crowded area. After nearly two hours of intense effort, the fire was fully extinguished around 5:00 AM.

The three victims were discovered inside the single house that burned down during the evacuation process. Authorities have not yet released their identities. While the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation, preliminary findings suggest a possible electrical short circuit originating from a power outlet in one of the residences.

Officials are currently working to assess the full extent of the damages and confirm the identities of all affected individuals. The Pulogadung Police Chief, Kompol Gomos Simamora, stated that the investigation into the precise cause is ongoing.
