Deaf and mute father honored as Yilan County's model father

Zhang Junlin, a deaf and mute father from Yilan County, has been honored as a model father for his profound, silent love and dedication in raising his three sons. The Yilan County government recognized Zhang among 13 recipients for his unwavering commitment to his family, overcoming significant communication barriers and physical challenges.

Zhang's journey included working as a machine repairman in a noisy factory, where he developed a calm, meticulous, and patient personality. As his sons grew, he transitioned to the physically demanding mud-brick industry to support his family. In these roles, he relied on gestures, written notes, and observing colleagues to master his work, requiring immense effort beyond that of his hearing peers.

During his sons' teenage years, Zhang faced the common challenges of parent-child communication. Although unable to speak, he conveyed his deepest affection through actions, offering silent understanding and steadfast support. His resilience in adversity and the silent, deep affection he provided have been a stable force for his family, embodying the profound nature of fatherly love and responsibility.

Acting County Magistrate Lin Mao-sheng praised all the model fathers, noting that despite their diverse backgrounds, their contributions to their children and families are uniquely significant. The award ceremony celebrated these individuals for their sacrifices and dedication, underscoring the powerful impact of parental love.
