Deans U18 introduces third-place match

Fans will see Ra High School and Nasinu Secondary School, both U18 semifinal losers, compete again this weekend. They will play in the third-place playoff in Suva for the Vodafone Deans U18 competition. The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union has introduced this playoff for the first time. Ra will face Nasinu at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday at the HFC Stadium. Timoci Vosailagi, a representative of the Ministry of Education on the competition's interim committee, confirmed the match. Vosailagi, a former Queen Victoria School Principal, stated that this initiative is being piloted in the Deans U18 and might expand to other grades next year. He added that it offers players another opportunity to impress Fiji Schoolboys selectors. The Deans and Raluve finals begin at 8 a.m. with the U14 match between QVS and Ratu Navula. Other matches include RKS vs. Marist in the U15, Nasinu vs. Saint Vincent in the Raluve U16, Suva Grammar vs. QVS in the U16 Deans, and RKS vs. Suva Grammar for the U17 title. The U19 final is between Navatu and Lelean, followed by the U18 bronze medal playoff. The Raluve U18 final features Lomary and MGM, and the main U18 Deans final is between Suva Grammar and Lelean. All finals and the bronze medal playoff will be broadcast live on FBC Sports, with overseas fans able to watch on VITI+.
