Death threats and insults: Algerian shopkeeper denounces neighborhood youths

A young Algerian shopkeeper has turned to social media after saying that a group of youths has made it difficult for her to work outside her own store. In a video posted online, she describes insults, alleged drug sales, death threats and the threat of losing her job.

She says the youths regularly gather in front of the business. According to her account, their presence has been accompanied by insults and behavior she associates with the sale of narcotics. She says the situation gradually became more serious.

The shopkeeper says she went to a police station to report what was happening and request intervention. But, she claims, the people involved were eventually released. She says they then subjected her to further pressure, including death threats and warnings that she could be fired.

In the video, she appears in tears as she recounts what she says she has experienced. She asks Algerian internet users to share the recording so that her complaint reaches a wider audience and public attention focuses on the difficulties she says she faces at her own business.
