Debate Over Swimming Pool Location: Deputy Mayor Responds to Dubrava Concerns

The debate surrounding the construction of a new swimming pool in Zagreb's Dubrava district has resurfaced in the City Assembly, with Deputy Mayor Danijela Dolenec providing crucial clarifications. Responding to inquiries from HDZ representative Neven Mikša, Dolenec affirmed that the project remains a priority for the city administration, despite the need to reconsider its initial location.

Dolenec explained that the original site, proposed by the previous administration near a church, faced significant opposition from local residents primarily due to insufficient parking facilities. Recognizing the importance of community input and the need for a sustainable project, the city has opted to explore alternative locations. This decision, she emphasized, was made to ensure the pool would be both viable and well-received by the neighborhood.

"Do you really want to create the impression that we don't care about Dubrava and Sesvete? That is simply not true. The swimming pool project is moving forward, and we are working on a solution that will be of high quality for the citizens of that part of the city," she asserted. The city is actively surveying new plots of land, prioritizing those with ample space for both the facility and adequate parking, ensuring the project's long-term success and community acceptance.
