Decisions of YAŞ announced: 25 generals and admirals promoted, Air Force Commander changed

Turkey's top military brass has seen significant changes following the Supreme Military Council's (YAŞ) annual meeting. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan chaired the 2026 High Military Council meeting, which resulted in the promotion of 25 generals and admirals to higher ranks. Additionally, 69 colonels have been elevated to the rank of general or admiral.

A key change in leadership occurred within the Turkish Air Force. General Rafet Dalkıran was appointed as the new Air Force Commander. This transition marks a new chapter for the branch, with Dalkıran expected to steer its future operations and strategies.

In a move indicating continuity, the term of the current Navy Commander, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu, has been extended for an additional year.
