Defense Minister and TNI Commander's Monthly Allowances Reach Rp 56.09 Million

New regulations in Indonesia are set to significantly increase the performance allowances (Tukin) for personnel within the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan). Presidential Regulations (Perpres) No. 42 and 43 of 2026 outline these adjustments, with the increased allowances scheduled to be disbursed starting August 2026.

The regulations specify that performance assessments conducted in August 2026 may lead to payments in September 2026. Should administrative adjustments cause delays, any discrepancies in payments will be reconciled in subsequent months through back payments. The determination of job classes for these allowances is also detailed within the Perpres.

A notable aspect of the new regulations is the provision for exceptional allowances for four key positions. The Minister of Defense (Menhan) and the Commander of the TNI will each receive a Tukin equivalent to 150% of the allowance designated for the highest job class (class 17) within their respective institutions. The Tukin for class 17 is currently set at Rp 37.39 million per month.

This calculation means that both the Minister of Defense and the Commander of the TNI will each receive a monthly Tukin of approximately Rp 56.09 million. Furthermore, the Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) and the Deputy Commander of the TNI (Wapang) will each receive 90% of the allowance granted to their superiors, amounting to roughly Rp 50.48 million per month.
