Del Toro and Pogacar's Magical Victory in Montjuic; Vingegaard Maintains Yellow Jersey

Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro and Slovenian star Tadej Pogacar celebrated a remarkable shared victory on the second stage of the Tour de France, a challenging 168.5-kilometer route from Tarragona to Barcelona. The UAE team dominated the stage, particularly on the Montjuic circuit, where the decisive moments unfolded.

With 500 meters remaining, Del Toro attacked, pulling Pogacar with him. In a display of sportsmanship, they crossed the finish line together, with Pogacar allowing his protégé to claim the win. This historic moment marked the first time a Mexican rider had won a Tour de France stage since Raúl Alcalá in 1989 and 1990, breaking a 37-year drought.

While the UAE team controlled the stage, Jonas Vingegaard managed to hold onto the yellow jersey. Pogacar gained six bonus seconds on Vingegaard, but the Dane maintained his overall lead. Remco Evenepoel finished third, with Vingegaard fourth, followed by Mattias Skjelmose, Paul Seixas, and Juan Ayuso.

The stage began with high intensity from Tarragona, featuring early breakaway attempts, including one by Alex Molenaar of Caja Rural Seguros RGA. Despite the peloton's control, the stage culminated in a dramatic finish on Montjuic, showcasing the strategic prowess and camaraderie within the UAE team.
