Delivery Driver Who Rescued Elderly Man from River Donates Reward Money

A delivery driver in Jecheon, South Korea, has demonstrated remarkable generosity after donating his reward money, earned for saving an elderly man from a river, to the community.

Park Dong-ho, 60, a delivery driver for CJ Logistics, was recognized as a 'delivery hero' after rescuing a 70-year-old man who had fallen into a river in Deoksan-myeon in May. Park spotted the man struggling in the water about 4 meters below the road and assisted in his rescue alongside emergency services.

I did what I naturally had to do, and I received an unexpected reward, so I decided to give it to my neighbors.

In recognition of his bravery, Park received a 1 million won gift certificate from his employer and a commendation from the Jecheon Police. He has now chosen to donate this reward to the city of Jecheon, expressing a desire to help underprivileged youth and low-income families, especially with the Chuseok holiday approaching.

Park is also an active member of the 'delivery patrol' program, a collaboration between the Jecheon Police and delivery drivers. In this role, he helps with public safety by reporting missing persons, runaways, and suspicious activities he encounters during his daily work. He stated that he acted out of a sense of duty and that the reward was unexpected, prompting his decision to share it with others.
