Physical Therapy Graduate Students Save Collapsed Emergency Patient During Czech Visit

Two graduate students from South Korea's Dong-Eui Institute of Science and Technology have been credited with saving a foreign tourist's life in Prague, Czech Republic. Shin Ho-seung and Jeong Min-hyeok, both pursuing master's degrees in physical therapy, were visiting the city when they witnessed a tourist suddenly collapse near the Vltava River.

Acting swiftly, the students immediately approached the collapsed individual to assess their condition, checking for responsiveness and breathing. Recognizing the critical situation, they began administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) without hesitation. While one student performed CPR, the other contacted local emergency services to request an ambulance and managed the surrounding area.

They continued the life-saving procedure in shifts until the local paramedics arrived on the scene. Thanks to their prompt and skilled intervention, the tourist regained consciousness and breathing before being transported to a hospital. The students' actions highlight their preparedness and expertise, honed through their professional activities as exercise and rehabilitation specialists and their advanced studies.

Reflecting on the incident, Shin and Jeong stated that they didn't hesitate when they saw the person collapse, and their training took over. They added that anyone in the same situation would have done the same. Their quick thinking and decisive action underscore the importance of emergency medical training and the willingness of individuals to help others in distress.
