Dell stock surges 32.7% on booming AI server demand

Dell's stock experienced its most significant single-day gain, soaring 32.7% on Wall Street after the technology giant announced robust quarterly earnings. The surge was fueled by a dramatic increase in demand for AI-related servers.

The company's performance marked its largest revenue growth since returning to the stock market in 2018. Dell's shares surpassed their previous record set in March 2024, and have climbed 234% year-to-date in 2026. The company's first-quarter results revealed an almost 88% year-over-year increase in revenue.

Dell specifically attributed a substantial portion of this growth to its AI server business, which integrates GPUs from companies like Nvidia. This segment alone saw a remarkable 757% year-over-year expansion, reaching $16.1 billion in revenue. Net profit attributable to the company rose to approximately $3.43 billion, a significant jump from $965 million in the same period last year. Adjusted earnings per share also exceeded market expectations.

Analysts are taking note, with Morgan Stanley describing the quarter as "one of the most solid seen recently" in the sector and admitting to having "underestimated" Dell's performance. The ongoing demand for AI infrastructure continues to be a major driver for tech companies like Dell, particularly in the server and data center markets.
