Audio recordings captured the captain's communication: "This is the captain. I am feeling unwell... I am going to go ahead and come in and go to the hospital." The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed the incident to USA Today. The Boeing 757 aircraft, flight number 437, landed safely in Detroit around 5:45 p.m. local time, nearly four hours into its journey.

Delta Air Lines confirmed the incident, stating that a crew member experienced a health issue during the flight.
