Delta gets new private varsity

A new private institution, Zoro International Open University (ZIOU), has been established in Bomadi, Delta State, Nigeria, with the primary goal of expanding access to tertiary education for residents of riverine communities.

The university was created to meet the growing educational needs of young people in these areas, where geographical challenges have historically limited access to higher education. ZIOU's management has confirmed that all necessary arrangements and operational requirements for the commencement of academic activities are complete, and admissions will begin soon.

ZIOU's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Osadi Benemone, stated that the university will provide opportunities for students in riverine towns and villages to pursue higher education without the difficulties of traveling long distances to urban centers. He assured that the institution has met all required conditions and is committed to delivering quality education through a diverse range of academic programs.

The university currently features four faculties: Sciences (Agricultural Science, Computer Science), Arts and Humanities (English Language, Philosophy, Psychology, Mass Communication, International Relations, History), Education (Educational Management, Public Health Education, Social Studies, Biology Education), and Management and Social Sciences (Accountancy, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Marketing, Political Science, Criminology). The university management plans to further expand its program offerings to enhance tertiary education access in Delta State's riverine communities and beyond.
