Seo Young-seok, a member of the National Assembly representing Bucheon Gap in Gyeonggi Province, has been elected as the new chairman of the Democratic Party's Gyeonggi Provincial Chapter. The election took place at the Gyeonggi Provincial Party Convention held at the Suwon Sports Complex Indoor Gymnasium on August 16.

Seo ran unopposed for the position and was confirmed as the new chairman after receiving 68.07% of the votes in a confirmation ballot. In his acceptance speech, Seo addressed the party members, emphasizing the significance of Gyeonggi Province in the party's future electoral success. He declared, "The starting point for winning the general election and achieving the regeneration of the government is Gyeonggi Province."
