Democratic Party launches national meat-sharing drive amid economic hardship

The Democratic Party is channeling the spirit of Eid al-Adha into a nationwide initiative to distribute sacrificial meat packages, a move aimed at alleviating economic burdens for the public. Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, widely known as AHY, has directed all party cadres to engage in this "National Movement of Sharing Kurban Packages."

AHY emphasized that the commemoration of Eid al-Adha should serve as a moment to enhance devotion and foster human solidarity. He commended the party's leadership and members for their sustained commitment to sharing through the tradition of Qurban (sacrifice). "Alhamdulillah, from year to year, the spirit of sharing through Qurban is getting better. More and more sacrificial animals are being handed over through the central board to be distributed to those eligible," he stated.

The party's central board (DPP) processed and distributed 63 cows. This effort is not confined to the central level; it extends across Indonesia through provincial (DPD) and city/district branches, embodying a national moral movement. The Democratic Party of DKI Jakarta, for instance, prepared 10 cows, which were processed into approximately 2,000 meat packages for distribution across various areas of the capital.

Mujiyono, head of the DKI Jakarta branch, highlighted that this year's Qurban is a direct follow-up to AHY's directive to strengthen social solidarity and care for the community, particularly amidst challenging economic conditions. He noted that the initiative reflects the party's presence and responsiveness to the evolving socio-economic landscape, where support and attention are increasingly vital as purchasing power faces pressure. The party aims for these activities to provide tangible benefits and foster optimism, ensuring the social actions have a felt impact.
