Dentist Chiu-Hsin Chen's 20-year-old act of support for breastfeeding advocacy wins praise

Taiwanese dentist Chiu-Hsin Chen, daughter of former President Chen Shui-bian, is receiving praise for a past act of public service. Media personality Annie Chen recently recalled Chen's decisive support for the "Taiwan Breastfeeding Association" over two decades ago, highlighting her commitment to the cause.

In 2002, Chen An-yi and a group of mothers were establishing the NGO to promote breastfeeding, which was not yet common among working women. After contacting several public figures, they learned that Chen Chiu-Hsin had successfully breastfed her eldest son, Yi-An, for an extended period. This news greatly encouraged the association's organizers.

Despite initial apprehension due to Chen Chiu-Hsin's public image as forthright and potentially temperamental, Chen An-yi decided to call her directly. To her surprise, Chen Chiu-Hsin readily agreed to become an honorary member without extensive questioning. She even spoke warmly about her son's feeding habits when asked.
