Depok to Build Islamic Civilization Museum at At-Thohir Mosque Site

Depok City, West Java, is set to enhance its religious tourism offerings with the planned development of an Islamic Civilization Museum within the At-Thohir Mosque complex. Local officials welcome the initiative, believing it will significantly strengthen the area's appeal and attract more visitors.

We from Disporyata really appreciate and support the steps taken by the Mochammad Thohir Foundation which manages this religious-based tourism destination area.

Eko Herwiyanto, head of the Depok Youth, Sports, Culture, and Tourism Office (Disporyata), expressed strong support for the development plans spearheaded by the Mochammad Thohir Foundation, which manages the religious tourism destination. He noted that the addition of the museum, along with other supporting facilities and a planned hotel, would add substantial value to the complex.

Beyond facility upgrades, Herwiyanto highlighted the critical need for improved accessibility to the At-Thohir Mosque. The management has requested government support for transportation, both within the city and for inter-city travel, potentially including the Light Rail Transit (LRT). The city government pledged to coordinate with relevant regional agencies to address these transportation needs, acknowledging that such improvements require collaboration.

In the future, there will be the development of an Islamic Civilization Museum, the addition of other facilities, including plans to build a hotel. We strongly support this in order to further increase tourism visits in Depok City.

For development aspects falling under central government purview, Depok City will follow established procedures to ensure the tourism area's needs are met. This collaborative approach aims to facilitate the comprehensive development of the At-Thohir tourism site, aligning with the management's vision.

Regarding the hope for support from the Depok City Government, there was transportation access, both at the city scale and inter-city, including possibly regarding the LRT and so on. We cannot do it alone, we will coordinate with other regional devices.
