Deportivo La Guaira starts Clausura with win over Monagas

Deportivo La Guaira began their Liga FUTVE Clausura Tournament campaign with a 2-1 victory over Monagas SC at the Estadio Monumental.

The visiting team adopted a patient approach, controlling possession and effectively neutralizing Monagas SC's high press and quick transitions. La Guaira's strategy paid off when Juan Luis Perdomo scored after a well-executed team play in the opponent's half, receiving the ball in the box, cutting past a defender, and finishing past goalkeeper Eduardo Lima.

In the second half, La Guaira utilized forwards Anthony Uribe and Flabián Londoño to disrupt Monagas' rhythm. Londoño even struck the post with a shot. The effectiveness of La Guaira's substitutions became evident when Manuel Sulbarán made an elegant run down the wing after a quick throw-in, setting up Sebastián Zeballos for the second goal.

Monagas SC pressed for a comeback and found a late consolation in the closing minutes. A low cross from a corner kick found Kevin De La Hoz, who scored to narrow the deficit. However, the goal was insufficient to salvage a point, and Deportivo La Guaira secured a crucial three points to maintain a strong position in the Accumulated Standings.
