Deposit-guarantee literacy in Lampung remains below 60%

Only 58.8% of people in Lampung understand deposit guarantees, below the national average of 62.5%. Anggito Abimanyu, chairman of Indonesia’s Deposit Insurance Corporation, said the gap made the province a priority for stronger public education.

He added that the same problem affects other regions, particularly outside Java, where education efforts and the agency’s reach remain limited.

Understanding deposit guarantees helps customers know how much of their money receives protection and which deposits fall within the LPS coverage. Nationally, an LPS survey conducted with Statistics Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority found that 62.5% of respondents knew their deposits were guaranteed. Only 46.3% knew that LPS was the institution providing the guarantee.

Anggito described this as a gap between understanding deposit guarantees and knowing the institution responsible for them. LPS used the survey mapping to identify areas needing more education. The Lampung festival targeted school and university students, and the agency plans to measure its effect through a follow-up survey about a week later with an independent institution, such as a university.
