Deputy Prime Minister Tells Hope School Students: “May You Grow Stronger After the Storm”

Deputy Prime Minister Le Tien Chau became emotional while speaking to students at Da Nang’s Hope School, telling them: “May you grow stronger after the storm.” He attended the school’s 2026-2027 opening ceremony on September 5 alongside Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Le Ngoc Quang, FPT representatives and more than 300 students, teachers and staff.

Chau said he had followed the school’s story from its earliest days, when FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh described the idea of building a school for children orphaned by the COVID-19 pandemic. Seeing the students welcome the visiting officials, he said, moved him and deepened his understanding of the meaning behind the name Hope.

Today, when I saw the children from Hope School come out to welcome us, I was deeply moved. I felt the humanity and compassion of those who helped build this school and understood more deeply the meaning of the name Hope.

“I was truly impressed and grateful to the sponsors, philanthropists and businesspeople who have shown such special generosity by joining efforts to help the children, especially Mr. Truong Gia Binh,” Chau said. He described Hope School as an important and distinctive model and said the government would continue to pay attention to it and accompany the school. He also asked Da Nang authorities to help keep the model operating and allow it to develop.

Chau thanked the teachers for the sacrifices and affection they had given the students. He said he was pleased that the children were learning not only academic knowledge but also practical skills that could serve them throughout their lives.

During the ceremony, officials and students rang bells to welcome the new school year. The students received gifts from the deputy prime minister, city leaders and the city education department. They gave handmade gifts in return, including soap, scented candles and handkerchiefs.

Hope School was established in 2021 to provide a living, learning and development environment for children who lost a parent, both parents or a guardian because of COVID-19. After five years, it has more than 300 students from 29 provinces and cities and 13 ethnic groups. Alongside the standard curriculum at FPT School Da Nang, students study science, technology, engineering, mathematics, programming, robotics, artificial intelligence, debate, arts, sports and daily life skills.
