Deputy uses official car for pre-candidacy launch in São Paulo

State Deputy Marina Helou, affiliated with the PSB party, has come under scrutiny for using an official vehicle belonging to the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo (Alesp) to attend the official launch of her pre-candidacy for federal deputy. The event took place on Sunday, June 21, in São Paulo.

According to Alesp's directive on vehicle usage, the use of any vehicle from the assembly's fleet for political or partisan campaign activities is strictly prohibited. The event, held at a theater in the Butantã neighborhood, drew approximately 300 attendees and also marked the pre-candidacy launch of São Paulo councilwoman Marina Bragante, also of the PSB, for state deputy.

Several notable figures attended the event, including former ministers Marina Silva (Rede) and Márcio França (PSB). The use of the official vehicle for campaign purposes appears to be a clear violation of Alesp's regulations.

In response to inquiries, Helou's press office admitted to the improper use of the vehicle. "We acknowledge the error and assure that it will not happen again," the office stated in a note to the publication. The incident highlights potential ethical breaches in the use of public resources for political endeavors.
