Dermot Kennedy: From street performer to Aviva Stadium history-maker

Dermot Kennedy is set to make history this weekend by becoming the first solo artist to perform two consecutive concerts at Dublin's Aviva Stadium, playing to over 50,000 fans each night. This achievement marks a significant milestone in his remarkable rise from busking on Grafton Street to becoming one of Ireland's most successful musicians.

Kennedy's musical journey started on the streets of Dublin, where he learned to captivate audiences. His academic pursuits at Maynooth University provided a solid foundation for his songwriting and performance craft. His connection to Maynooth continued post-graduation, with the university's chamber choir collaborating on his album "The Weight of the Woods."

Beyond his music career, Kennedy has had notable personal moments, including a lighthearted on-stage interaction with "Rose of Tralee" host Dáithí Ó Sé in 2015, where Ó Sé joked about the show's proposal tradition.
