Deschamps' departure brings number of World Cup-leaving coaches to 15

Didier Deschamps, the French coach who led 'Les Bleus' to a World Cup victory in 2018, announced his departure after 14 years at the helm. His farewell, marked by emotion despite a third-place playoff loss to England, brings the total number of national team coaches not continuing after the World Cup to 15.

The exodus of coaches began early in the tournament with Sabri Lamouchi of Tunisia, who was dismissed after a significant loss in his team's opening match. Other coaches, including Miroslav Koubek (Czech Republic), Steve Clarke (Scotland), Hong Myung-bo (South Korea), and Marcelo Bielsa (Uruguay), resigned after their teams failed to advance past the group stage.

Further departures include Sebastián Beccacece (Ecuador), Ronald Koeman (Netherlands), and Julian Nagelsmann (Germany), who left after their teams were eliminated in the round of 16. Mexico's Javier Aguirre was also replaced, a move that had been anticipated. Carlos Queiroz (Ghana) and Roberto Martínez (Portugal) also concluded their tenures following their teams' exit in the knockout stages.

Other coaches like Jamal Sellami (Jordan) and Pape Thiaw (Senegal) were dismissed by their federations after group stage eliminations or early knockout round exits, respectively. Zlatko Dalic (Croatia) also stepped down after his team's defeat in the round of 16.
