Destry: Inclusive and Sharia Finance to Drive 8 Percent Economic Growth

Destry Damayanti, a candidate for Bank Indonesia's Senior Deputy Governor, asserts that inclusive finance and the Islamic economy are pivotal drivers for achieving an 8% economic growth rate. She emphasizes the need to bolster financing accessibility for both individuals and businesses to realize this ambitious target.

During her confirmation hearing before Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Damayanti stated, “Inclusion and sharia are the main game changers for Indonesia to encourage 8 percent economic growth.” She further elaborated that quality economic growth is not solely measured by high growth figures but also by the extent to which its benefits are broadly shared among the populace.

Consequently, enhancing access to inclusive financing is a central focus of her proposed policies. Damayanti plans to strengthen inclusive financing through macroprudential policies. The objective is to extend financial access to a wider segment of the population and business actors who currently face limitations in accessing financial services.
