Deutsche Telekom profits from Football World Cup, increases earnings

Deutsche Telekom has announced a further increase in its revenue and profit, with its MagentaTV streaming service playing a notable role in the company's success, particularly due to its coverage of the Football World Cup. The service attracted approximately one million new customers.

"Our businesses continue to run smoothly," stated CEO Tim Höttges. The telecommunications giant reported a 4.4 percent rise in revenue, reaching 29.93 billion euros. Adjusted operating profit saw a significant jump of 7.5 percent, amounting to 11.82 billion euros. This performance underscores the company's robust financial health and strategic execution.

In addition to its strong operational results, Deutsche Telekom is expanding its share buyback program. The volume of the ongoing program is set to increase by up to three billion euros, bringing the total to a maximum of five billion euros. This move signals the company's confidence in its future prospects and its commitment to returning value to shareholders.
