Dhaka court acquits cricketer Nasir Hossain, wife in adultery case

Cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana have been acquitted by a Dhaka court in a case involving allegations of adultery and fraud. The judgment was delivered by Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam in a courtroom packed with attendees.

The legal proceedings stemmed from a complaint filed on February 24, 2021, by Md Rakib Hasan, Tamima's former husband. Hasan alleged that Tamima entered into marriage with Nasir without having legally divorced him. This accusation formed the basis of the case that proceeded to trial.

Following an investigation, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted a report on September 30, 2021. The report accused Nasir, Tamima, and Tamima's mother, Sumi Akter. However, the court later decided to discharge Sumi Akter from the case, finding insufficient grounds to press charges against her. The court officially framed charges against Nasir and Tamima on February 9, 2022, leading to the trial that concluded with their acquittal.
