Dharan City Approves Annual Budget of Rs 2.76 Billion

Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City has passed its annual budget of Rs 2.76 billion for the current fiscal year. The 19th municipal assembly approved the budget, which emphasizes building road networks and physical infrastructure, drinking water supply, education, healthcare, tourism facilities, agriculture, employment creation, and disaster management.

Acting Mayor Ayindra Bikram Begha presented the budget, allocating Rs 2.47 billion to the municipal executive and Rs 287 million to the 20 ward offices. Begha outlined the revenue collection plan, expecting Rs 1.40 billion from the sub-metropolitan city itself. Additional funds will come from federal grants (Rs 862 million), provincial government grants (Rs 91.6 million), revenue sharing (Rs 328.89 million), and the Road Board (Rs 10 million).

The city also has a financial cushion, with a deposit of Rs 70 million carried over from the last fiscal year, according to Acting Mayor Begha. This financial planning aims to support the city's development and service provision across various key sectors.
