Dharmendra Pradhan resignation: AAP calls it victory for democracy, demands education reforms

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has hailed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as a significant triumph for democracy. The party asserts that Pradhan's departure was a direct consequence of persistent protests by students and youth demanding accountability for alleged irregularities within the examination system.

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the students and young protesters, stating their movement compelled the government to act. He emphasized that the resignation demonstrates the power of democratic protest and urged the central government to enact thorough reforms. These reforms, Kejriwal suggested, are necessary to prevent future occurrences of paper leaks and to enhance the overall quality of the education system. He reiterated the principle that governments must be responsive to public concerns to uphold democratic values.

Senior AAP leaders echoed Kejriwal's sentiments, framing the event as a testament to the efficacy of public movements. Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh drew a parallel between Pradhan's resignation and the farmers' protest, noting it as a rare instance where the government reversed course due to public pressure. He also pointed to the reported removal of several National Testing Agency (NTA) officials as a victory for students, urging the youth movement to continue advocating for employment opportunities and greater government accountability.

Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia described the resignation not as a voluntary decision but as a result of sustained public pressure. AAP leaders Gopal Rai and Saurabh Bharadwaj further emphasized that the movement succeeded despite facing police action and various allegations against protesters. Delhi Assembly's Leader of Opposition Atishi also welcomed the resignation, viewing it as a win for student activism.
