DHL Relay in Copenhagen sells out for second consecutive year

For the second year running, the DHL Relay race in Copenhagen has sold out, with a staggering 160,000 participants registered. The event, organized by Sparta Athletics and Running, is set to take place in Fælledparken from August 24 to August 28.

This year's race will see 100,000 runners and 50,000 walkers embark on the 5-kilometer course. The DHL Relay is a prominent annual event, and its 45th edition this year includes participation from over 2700 Danish workplaces across the country.

Dorte Vibjerg, director at Sparta Athletics and Running, highlighted that the event's appeal extends beyond just the physical activity. "The DHL Relay is, of course, about running or walking five kilometers, but what we see again and again is that it is the community that makes people come back," she said.

The first edition of the relay in Copenhagen was held in 1981, with an initial participation of 700 people. The continued sell-out success underscores the event's enduring popularity and its role in fostering community engagement.
