Diablos Rojos adjust weekend schedule due to Mexican national soccer team

The Mexican national soccer team's progress in the World Cup has directly impacted the schedule of the Diablos Rojos baseball team in Mexico City. With the national team set to play England in the Round of 16, the Diablos Rojos adjusted their home series against the Piratas de Campeche to ensure fans could follow both major sporting events.

Originally, the Diablos Rojos were scheduled to play the Piratas on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. However, to prevent a scheduling clash with the soccer match, which kicked off at 6:00 PM, the baseball team decided to advance the start time of their Sunday game to noon. This adjustment aimed to allow fans to enjoy both the Mexican League (LMB) baseball games and the World Cup match.

Initial reports suggested a potential shift in the soccer match's start time to midday, which would have severely overlapped with the Diablos Rojos' games. Although the soccer match's schedule remained unchanged, the baseball organization opted not to risk fan conflict. Consequently, they announced a doubleheader for Saturday, July 4th, to conclude the series against Campeche.

This Saturday doubleheader will feature pitcher Trevor Bauer making his highly anticipated season debut for the Diablos Rojos. The first game of the doubleheader, originally scheduled for 4:00 PM, has been moved to 1:00 PM. The second game will begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first, with James Kaprielian slated as the possible starter.
