Diane Parry to play in Monterrey Open final after defeating Ann Li

Young French tennis player Diane Parry is set to compete for her first WTA title at the 18th edition of the Monterrey Open. Parry, originally from Nice, France, secured her spot in the final after a hard-fought victory over American Ann Li in the semifinals.

Displaying remarkable grit, Parry defeated Li in two hours and two minutes, with a score of 7-6 and 6-4. In the first set, she faced seven set points against her but managed to hold on. In the second set, she successfully defended her service games despite Li's attempts to break.

At 23 years old, Parry has accumulated $4,043,378 in career prize money. Her playing style and determined character have marked her as a talent to watch on the women's circuit. This marks the second time in the tournament's history that France has a contender for the championship.

This will be Parry's first final in Monterrey after seven previous semifinal appearances in various tournaments. She thrives on hard courts, her preferred surface, and this achievement is the culmination of years of development as a promising player. In 2022, during her Grand Slam main draw debut at just 19, she notably eliminated the then-defending Roland Garros champion, Barbora Krejcikova, in the first round.
