Diao and Nico Paz complete Como’s comeback

Como turned an uncomfortable afternoon in Genoa into a commanding 4-1 victory, with Nico Paz producing a spectacular finish and Assane Diao scoring twice.

Genoa struck first in the 19th minute. Lorenzo Colombo found Osmajic from the left after exploiting space behind Jacobo Ramón, and the Montenegro international opened the scoring.

The lead lasted only briefly. Martin Baturina equalized with a low shot from outside the area, then Diao completed Como’s comeback with a precise volley after Álex Valle’s cross was deflected backward by Leo Østigård. Soon afterward, Nico Paz added a third before the break. Yan Couto found space behind Johan Vásquez, allowing the Argentine to control the ball, withstand the defender and place a right-footed shot into the top corner.

Cesc Fàbregas had made one change from the team that beat Napoli 2-1, bringing in Máximo Perrone for Luis Milla. The adjustment also allowed Milla to be rested ahead of Como’s Champions League debut against Leipzig next week.

Genoa, already beaten by Napoli and Lazio and close to the relegation zone before kickoff, could not recover in the second half. Como managed its advantage and completed the rout on a counterattack finished by Diao, strengthening its early-season start and sending the team provisionally top of Serie A.
