Diesel Train Stopped in Romania After Leak, Nearby Residents Evacuated

A freight train carrying diesel fuel was halted near the Rădoiești-Deal halt in Romania's Teleorman county on Monday after a leak was detected in one of its wagons. The train consists of 37 wagons, with 36 loaded with diesel fuel, pulled by an electric locomotive.

Emergency services, including firefighters from the Roșiorii de Vede detachment, responded to the scene. They reported the fuel leak as minor. To mitigate fire risks, electricity supply to the area was temporarily cut off. As a precautionary measure, authorities evacuated people residing within approximately 300 meters of the incident site.

Firefighting crews are implementing preventative measures and are prepared to extinguish any potential fires. A technical team from the railway operator is traveling to the location to address and repair the malfunction in the affected wagon.
