Dinh Thi Mai appointed vice president of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences

Dinh Thi Mai has been appointed vice president of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, moving from her position as deputy head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission.

The academy announced the decision at a conference on September 3. The Secretariat also appointed Mai to the academy’s Party executive committee and standing committee for the 2025-2030 term.

Academy President Le Van Loi presented the decision and congratulated Mai. He described her appointment as an important addition to the academy’s leadership as it enters a new phase, citing her experience in propaganda, mass mobilization and management.

Loi asked Mai to quickly study the academy’s functions, responsibilities, organizational structure and operations. He also urged her to work with subordinate units, oversee her assigned areas and apply her experience to ideological work, scientific information and communications, personnel affairs and Party building.

Mai said she would devote her effort and expertise to the role, continue learning and research, and pursue further reforms. Born in 1971 in Ninh Binh, she holds a doctorate in psychology. She previously worked in Ninh Binh and later held successive positions in the Central Propaganda Commission, including head of its Propaganda Department. In June 2024, the Secretariat appointed her deputy head of the Central Propaganda Commission. After that body merged with the Central Mass Mobilization Commission, she became deputy head of the combined commission.
