Disney confirms 'Frozen 3' release date and plot details

Disney has officially announced that 'Frozen 3' will arrive in cinemas on November 24, 2027, a traditional release slot for the studio during the Thanksgiving holiday. The upcoming animated sequel promises to continue the beloved saga of Elsa and Anna.

The story will pick up immediately after the wedding of Anna and Kristoff. A magical event tied to the Northern Lights is set to open a portal to a mysterious, unknown territory. This will compel the Arendelle sisters to embark on a perilous journey beyond their kingdom's borders, facing a conflict that could reshape the familiar dynamics of the franchise.

Original voice cast members Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), Jonathan Groff (Kristoff), and Josh Gad (Olaf) are all confirmed to reprise their roles. Rachel Matthews will also return as Honeymaren. A new romantic interest for Olaf, named Samantha, will be introduced, featuring a musical number dedicated to their bond.

Concept art revealed at D23 showcased a mysterious, ice-clad figure confronting the sisters, marking the franchise's first female antagonist. The identity of the voice actress for this new villain remains undisclosed. Directors Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy are leading the project, which is part of a broader narrative arc planned across two films. Disney is reportedly already developing 'Frozen 4' concurrently, with plans for it to debut on Disney Plus after its theatrical run.
